The Disorientation

Some asshole scribbled all over a book with a pen

Ayo what the fuck man?

Who does that? I was re-arraigning my books and was casually flipping through some of them when I found this. It was a copy of Milton's Paradise Lost. I bought a used copy online some time back and haven't gotten around to it.

I was reading the first page going "Wow I might be too dumb for this" when I flipped to the middle. And what do I see? A huge ass mess of scribbles in pen. It's like someone was angry that their pen wasn't working and used the book to test it out. And it's not just on a single page, either. I counted at least ten pages with scribbles. Big ones too.

I don't know how I never noticed this. Every time I get a new or used book I always flip through and just look and admire it. A little ritual of mine to christen it. This one was no different. I guess I never landed on a marked page or caught a glimpse of the ink.

If it was in pencil I could at least erase it. I have so many used books and while some of them have marks (two were even signed by the author, which was cool), none were as bad as this. I don't mind people writing notes in their own copies, but this was ridiculous.

Pisses me off.
